New interpretation panel designs celebrate Wragby's rich history

At Root Studio we love a bit of history and working with the Wragby Heritage Group and the local Primary School we’ve enjoyed bringing a bit of history to life. We’ve produced two new interpretation panels which draw attention to the site of Wragby's old Church as well as those important characters from Wragby's past that lay to rest in the old cemetery.
Vic and the team at Wragby's heritage group have performed some fantastic research into the site itself which has enabled us to feature some fascinating details about what is a significant part of Wragby's history. Despite the church being mentioned in the Domesday Book, there are no records indicating exactly when the church was built. However, a survey carried out by the Lincoln History and Archaeology Society suggests that the earliest parts of the church were built during the 12th and 13th centuries.
As the centre of Wragby moved westwards the church fell out of use and was eventually demolished in 1981 having become derelict. Some artifacts from the old church have however been salvaged and are now situated in Wragby's 'new' church.
The second of the two display boards goes into detail about some of those families that have been laid to rest in the cemetery (some of which started businesses that are still running to this day). The Heritage Group had help from the local Wragby Primary School in performing this great research which includes some superb images of Wragby's past.
All-in-all we thoroughly enjoyed working on the project and after re-visiting the site with the boards in place it's clear that visitors to the site will finally be able to assign some amazing stories to the families situated there.
