This Easter a major new habitat has opened at Chester Zoo - drum roll please… welcome to Madagascar!
Madagascar is unlike any other Island in the world, home to some incredibly rare species that are found nowhere else, including of course the Lemur which you can now see closer than ever in Chester Zoo’s new walk-through enclosure. With 6000m2 of specially designed habitat that recreates the dry forests of Madagascar their new enclosure looks fantastic.

As part of the interpretation for the new area we were asked to illustrate 11 species of lemur as well as Madagascar’s illusive top predator the Fossa and many other species living alongside them in their natural environment. Each illustration was created to be produced life-size with a beautifully illustrated forest background.
Alongside the signage we also designed two large panels (2.5m tall) to sit either side of a model baobab tree to show the diversity of wildlife in Madagascar. Each of the designs showcased either nocturnal or diurnal endemic species.
If you visit be sure to share your photos with us! And if you’d like to see more examples of our work with Chester Zoo visit our portfolio.
