Exotic branding design for Leicester's newest tearoom & restaurant

Hamira Leicester Tearoom & Restaurant Logo Design

India is the second largest producer of tea outside of China and offers a rich heritage of blending this delicious brew. Hamira is a new tearoom delivering these traditional concoctions to the people of Leicester and we've had the pleasure of working with them on their branding as they launch their new venture.

The new tearoom will be opening its doors around Leicester's affluent neighbourhood of Stoneygate and Allendale Road. Serving a range of vegetarian and vegan savoury and sweet dishes with an Indian-English fusion as well as a selection of fine teas, this elegant eatery is sure to become another successful addition to this unique shopping area.

The name 'Hamira' actually comes from a small town in Kapurthala, India and, apart from having a rich Sikh royal history and being renowned for its sugar mills and distillery, it is also tearoom owner's place of birth so carries a deep personal connection. With this in mind we were approached by the owner with the idea of incorporating a strong royal heritage connection into the brand featuring the royal bird - the elegant peacock, and a sumptuous palette of dark blues, greens and gold.

Amazingly creative and exceptionally talented individuals. The process was fun and exciting, a slick, professional service with endless passion and enthusiasm from the team.

After exploring a number of concepts and fine tuning the design we have created a logo with elegance and impact in equal measures. The logotype is an adaptation of the traditionally styled typeface Figuera, we've added subtle inlines and adjusted the height of the lettering to incorporate the brand strapline 'Blends of India'. The tall, condensed nature of this typeface combined with it's dramatic and sharp serifs gives the logo an exotic appearance.

The peacock icon is entirely hand drawn by our designers in a traditional style. Perched on top of an antique Indian tea caddy with tea leaves blooming out from behind him, this bird has real character.

We thoroughly enjoyed the project and look forward to working with team Hamira on more exciting projects soon! If you'd like to see more recent work visit our portfolio.
